In diesem sinne, feiert schoen! Und: may all beings be happy ! (...)

Hola gente buena,
no les he olvidado.
Jodidos franceses!
Abrazos y besos!
YO

Hi mates,
yes people, i am still alive. If you followed my emails carefully you have probably figured out that i could get on the meditation course this time. But one after the other:
i sent an email some 2 weeks ago but at the end it didnt work out due to a failure in the line and when i wanted to safe the message i deleted it somehow. Anyway here is the shortform of INDIA VI: i met the basque again i was travelling with in bombay. It was one of these weird occasions that just happen when you dont expect it the most. We ran into each other in a bus stand in a city meither he nor me did stay. Both just changed the bus me coming from the north and xavi from the south. So we spent some days together in manali and then went to the city of leh in ladakh/ kashmir. Beautiful landscape and great for hiking and alpinism. I confess that i didnt find the time neither for one nor for the other. Anyway it was for the road that i went there. Aparentely it is the second highest road of the world and it climbs up to 5300m (17700 feet). The air is pretty thin there. I had forgotten about that fact and was reminded pretty soon as i tried to take a short run. No way! Felt like old and asmathic. Like a smoker after 50 years of smoking 2 packs a day (or something like that). That was sort of exciting. But really funny was the way up to the first pass (4000m). There is what the indians might call a ski resort. 2 months a year the pass is open and that is during the summer vacaciones when the snow has melted and you can take the gravel road up to the place where the snow is. The indians dont mind the half day ride up to the spot on that fucked up road just to see and touch the snow. Living in delhi or rajasthan they never come across snow. So they rent thick coats and stuff and enjoy thereselves for a couple of hours. They sit on yaks (hairy cattle), take fotos posing on skis or lying in the snow. But this „snow" is actually not more than a pitch with dirty half way melted snow. Stuffed with people. Really funny.
The more recent impressions. INDIA VII:
The meditation course took place outside a little village called hoshiarpur in the state of punjab. A lot of fields and eucalyptus trees there. More important than the fields is the silence you experience there. Finally some silence in this busy hasty land.
Everything worked out for me this time. I arrived in time for registration. Actually i got there a day early. At 8 a.m. i sat outside the main gate. Just about to take a nap (two mights on a bus behind me) a man opened the gate and made me enter the center. He showed me to a bungalow with attached bathroom that i had to myself this first night. I even got lunch and dinner. Great stuff. The whole atmosphere was calm and paeceful and somehow ...meditative. Basically the course is about sitting, keeping the eyes closed and observing the own respiration (without trying to change its natural flow). One is told to keep the mind attentive and from wandering away. Sounds fairly easy. My problem was that the pain in my back, neck and knees wouldnt let me focus my mind on anything else. The days passed slowly. The mind kept observing the back kept hurting. Until one day it didnt hurt no more. That was when real meditation started. The nights where short, meals scarsly. All in all a very demanding experience but at the same time very enriching!! (and that is not just talking, believe). In what sense and how i passed the 10 days that i will tell you personally next time we meet or in a private email. For those who are thinking of doing a meditation course, i recommend the Vipassana meditation. In short words this kind of meditation goes back to the buddha. He invented it and came to enlightenment. I dont say you will in the ten day course, but the good thing is that the technic will help you to live your life more consciously. It is absolutly applyable in daily life and i would even say it is a tool to get you some distance from the rat race of your day to day life. But this is just my opinion. Practice is the secret of success. I will keep it up, definetly.
Notice that this is the last email from india. I will be back in germany by Wednesday. Hope we win against argentina and i hope we see a replay of the european championships game two years ago when England and Portugal played the best game ever.
In this sense: enjoy your time and MAY ALL BEINGS BE HAPPY!
Kisses and hugs
Yours MIKE

hi my lads,
i couldnt get on the meditation course. i was on listnumber 83 and they took only 4. bad luck. and fucking lots of people. all crazy i reckon. 10 days locked in a retreat...why should i do that? actually i will try in another place where there are less tourists. i hope i can get squeezed in. i really want to do that course. anyway, that only starts on the 16.6. so in the meantime i stay here in dalai lama city and do my massage course and take cooking lessons. yes, mates, cooking lessons!
himalaya mounntains are really beautiful but i have to go deeper into it. therefore i will leave dharmsala next week (after finishing my massage course. i extended my saty here in india. the flight is now on the 4.7.- so two weeks more than inicially planned. and i tell you: still it is not enough at all! (somehow it never is, is it?)
that is it for today. i have to head off to the course.
take good care and a biggg hug!
